How to Cook Frozen Ground Beef in the Instant Pot

If you’re anything like me, you don’t always plan ahead. One of the most incredible uses of the Instant Pot is that it defrosts meat quickly and you don’t get that weird microwave texture.

This is about a pound of ground beef completely frozen. Just place it into the Instant Pot with 1/4 cup of water.

Set Instant Pot to high pressure / manual for 20 minutes. You can let it sit or quick release if in a hurry at the end.

It may not look like much once you open it. If you don’t want any of the natural fat, you could also put it on a trivet. But I find that dries it out a little too much.

Break up and crumble in a bowl. Use in your favorite recipes!

  • 1 lb ground beef


  1. Put frozen ground beef into Instant Pot. Set for high pressure / manual for 20 minutes. Natural or quick release and use into your recipe of choice.
